What is Polkadot?
Polkadot is a blockchain-powered network created by Ethereum co-founder Gavin Wood to solve perceived scalability problems in other cryptocurrencies. Comprising of multiple blockchains, the central “relay” chain provides security for the entire network while the side chains increase the network’s capacity and functionality. DOT, the native cryptocurrency of the network, is used across the entire network to pay for transaction fees and services.
