What is Litecoin?
Litecoin (LTC) is one of the earliest alternatives to Bitcoin, using nearly identical blockchain technology. Released by Charlie Lee, who would later go on to become Engineering Director at Coinbase, the Litecoin network aims to process a block in 2.5 minutes compared to Bitcoin’s 10 minutes. It also is relatively harder to mine, as its password-based key derivation function increases computational complexity for ASICs.
